Big French win at San Sebastian Fest
French film director François Ozon won the Golden Shell for Best Picture at the 60th San Sebastian Film Festival during a ceremony on Saturday for his film “In the house.”
[François Ozon directed “The Swimming Pool” and more recently “Potiche,” both of which are on Netflix]
In his film, which was loosely adapted from a play by Spanish playwright Juan Mayorga, actor Fabrice Luchini (“The Women on the Sixth Floor”) brilliantly plays Germain, a French teacher who is disillusioned with his profession. When Claude (played by Ernst Umhauer) gets himself noticed by his teacher with his exceptional writing ability, the fascination for stories that the two share will set in motion a brilliant but uncontrollable game as “House” gradually develops into a full-blown thriller.
Kristin Scott Thomas and Emmanuelle Seigner are also part of the cast (watch trailer here–in French)
