Get ready for this spring's film event

“It’s David effing Cronenberg,” said one commenter under this newly-released trailer of the upcoming Cosmopolis posted on Youtube. And it’s true. Cronenberg, a Canadian filmmaker (Videodrome, A History of Violence), is a master of his own genre and Cosmopolis, based on the Don DeLillo novel (just downloaded it to my iPad, as if I don’t already have enough stuff to read), is looking uber-awesome. It stars Robert Pattinson and, strangely enough, Juliette Binoche (now there’s a seriously unlikely duo).

Given the May 23 release date, it’s a safe bet to assume that Cosmopolis will be part of the official selection at the Cannes Festival (the fest takes place during May 16-27)

Paul Giamatti, Matthieu Amalric and Jay Baruchel also star. The film’s site is exquisite, very elegantly done–check it out here.
