WE HAVE A LIFT OFF – Cannes lineup announced
Grand Hotel, Paris – Seems like we’ve just completed a revolution: filmmakers who remained away from the Croisette in the last few years will be making their mark this year again, hoping to bring back the glory of the past, namely: Matteo Garrone, who’ll be presenting Reality, Carlos Reygadas with Post Tenebras Lux, Ken Loach with the Angel’s Share and Jacques Audiard with De Rouille et D’Os (Rust and Bone)—all competing for a Palme D’Or. Of note, Lee Daniels who caused quite a buzz in the parallel program with Precious is now squarely in the running for the top honors as well. His new film The Paperboy (pictured), an erotic thriller starring Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman and John Cusack (can’t wait to see this one) is included in the main competition this year. Also mentionworthy is the fact that Matthew McConaughey, who has a supporting role in The Paper Boy, will be appearing in the competition program for the very first time–we wish him the best of luck.
27 days and counting. Tower clear.
