Cliff Robertson leaves us
Cliff Robertson died yesterday at age 88. His name may not mean much to younger generations but his face will be familiar from any number of films and television shows. For decades, he was one of those Hollywood perennials who, despite some success and even an Oscar (for the 1968 Charly), never quite reach the status of top leading man. He weathered high and low points in his career with equanimity, humor and perspective, once quipping, “The year you win an Oscar is the fastest year in a Hollywood actor’s life. Twelve months later they ask, ‘Who won the Oscar last year?’”
