UMA THURMAN IN LIFE BEFORE HER EYES
(BY ALI NADERZAD) Vadim Perelman’s The Life Before Her Eyes will be released on April 18th (Magnolia Pics) and will star Uma Thurman and Evan Rachel Wood. This film, like his previous one, is about people with secrets and a world that’s burdened with a darker subtext than meets the eye. Perelman’s characters and their transgressions are a little reminiscent of those in Francois Ozon’s films. Impetuous and wild Diana (Evan Rachel Wood) is in the final days of her high-school senior year and tests her limits with sex and drugs. Any illusion of invincibility is shattered when an act of violence disrupts campus life. Fifteen years later, a grown Diana (Uma Thurman) is still trying to come to terms with these traumatic events. As everything and everyone quietly unravels around her, she risks losing her own grip on reality. Perelman has crafted a compelling film about the choices one makes and consequences that must be faced.
