Zach Braff’s Kickstarter campaign on target

Unless you’ve been living inside a cave you’ve heard of Zach Braff and probably really dig him since he’s an alright feller. Known for his role in “Scrubs,” he most recently lent his voice for the role of the monkey Finley in “The Fantastic World of Oz,” alongside James Franco. And yet, since his directorial debut “Garden State” Braff has been struggling to find funding for a second film. Surprised? We’re not.

The actor and director decided to take the money chase out of the Hollywood system by launching a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter. As he explains in the video below, this will enable it to produce a more personal film with greater freedom both artistically and in terms of his casting choices.

The operation has been a success, apparently, since with over 24 days until deadline the “Wish I Was Here” campaign has already run up nearly $2 million, just a few bucks shy of its $2M goal.
