DAVID LYNCH HONORED IN FRANCE
During a ceremony at the Elysee Palace today filmmaker Lynch was made Officier de la Legion D’honneur. President Nicolas Sarkozy called Lynch, who directed some of Hollywood’s most idiosyncratic films, “a profoundly normal guy” as he handed down the award. Sarkozy said, “what’s crazy is life, not the perspective you bring to life.” Charlotte Rampling and Roman Polanski attended the ceremony at the presidential palace. The award seems fitting for a director whose films are some of France’s favorite by an American director. Lynch had been knighted by the French government five years ago.
