Hobbit Air

Thank God, Hobbits can now travel safely. Just before takeoff Air New Zealand is showing its passengers a video inspired from “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” the first part of the trilogy “The Hobbit,” itself derived from the “Lord of the Rings” series.

In this short film, which replaces the traditional safety guidelines at the beginning of the flight–which everyone will sorely miss, presumably–strange creatures follow the indications of an elf-eared hostess and her even stranger ship crew as they prepare to journey toward faraway New Zealand; which is where the saga’s creator, Peter Jackson, is of course from. What’s next? Will Air France use the Triplets of Belleville in its own safety announcement?
